Quarantined Students:
1) Join class at your regularly scheduled time through Zoom
https://sdk12.zoom.us/j/8461915936.
Attendance will be taken.
2) Take notes as you normally would if you were in class.
3) Do the assignments posted. You will turn in assignments and make up
tests when you return to school.
For other absences:
1) Get the notes from a friend or from the Zoom Recording.
2) Read and study the examples in the book.
3) Go to the textbook website and watch the Virtual Nerd
video for the section you missed. (And/Or watch the Zoom Recording)
*If you've tried all of the above first and are still having trouble, then see me for help.
Remote Learning
Plan (I left this on here from last year in
case we have to do it again)
1) Visit Mr. Dobbs website each day and check the assignment list to see the
plan for the day.
2) Go to the online textbook (see the link above and reminders of username and
password).
3) Watch the virtual nerd video for the section we are on (there are 2 videos
for some sections). You should also read and study the examples in the
book. There is also an interactive learning component and a guided
instruction component in the online book. They should be easy for you to
find - and those would be other ways of learning the material.
4) Do the assignment from the assignment list on paper just like we did in class
this year. You can check your odd answers with the back of the book.
You won't be able to check the evens. You won't be able to turn in
assignments and receive a grade for them like we normally do. You are
doing the assignments to learn the material and be prepared to do well on
quizzes and tests.
5) I will assign quizzes and tests periodically - I haven't decided how often,
but it may be more often since we are not grading daily work. I will have
it indicated on the assignment list if there is a quiz or test to take.
I'm not sure what it will look like on the student side of things, but if I've
assigned a quiz or test you should be able to see it somewhere when you log in
to the online book (Pearson Easybridge).
6) I may not give much advance warning on when a quiz or test will be assigned,
but you won't be required to take it immediately. If you need an extra day
or two to study for it, that will be allowed. The quizzes and tests are
taken on your computer and are sent to me electronically (no paper involved for
quizzes/tests).
7) You can email me anytime for questions at
brian.dobbs@k12.sd.us
8) I will update grades on the portal regularly, so you can keep track of how
you are doing.
